Sign Language Learning Resources by Parent Guide Katie Hope

Hey all, Parent Guide Katie here!  I hope everyone is hanging in there for end-of-the-school-year-craziness and gearing up for an awesome summer!  I want to share some posts with sign language learning resources that I've created on my personal blog, Hope and Sensibility.  One of the things that has been hardest for me on our hearing loss journey is finding good resources.  Along the way, I've made lists and lists and lists and finally decided to put them in one spot!  Here are a few direct links, and I'll add a short description beside each one.

How Can I Learn Sign Language? - In this post, I've made a list of all my favorite (and reputable) ASL learning resources, including online ASL dictionaries, apps, youtube channels, books and tv shows.

Room Full of Language Series - This is actually a series of posts.  In each one, I focus on vocabulary for one room (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom).  These can be great for listening and spoken language and/or sign language!  I don't know about y'all, but sometimes Odin and I get so busy with appointments, therapies, equipment, school and LIFE that I forget to consider all the vocabulary I can provide him in every single room!  Whether you're just wanting a list of vocabulary to create talking points or you want to learn signs, these posts are for you!  Each word is linked to its "how to" video in an ASL dictionary, and there is also a video of our Deaf Mentor teaching us room signs.

Please feel free to reach out if you have comments, questions or suggestions!!  I am always looking for ways to share things that have helped us and other families on our hearing loss journey, and I would love your feedback!
